Meet the Director

Amanda Baron
NYSASSRS & RSGDA
Amanda joined the initiative to help rebuild the labor force of the Automotive Industry in 2018. She started in a communications support role as a consultant and web developer for ISCONY (Independent Service Centers of New York), formerly SSRSOUNY (Service Stations and Repair Shops of Upstate New York). Her role evolved and expanded into more in-depth involvement durring COVID-19, and she replaced the prior Director in 2022.
In 2023, ISCONY’s mission and services were incorporated with RSGDA (Repair Shops and Gasoline Dealers Association), where she became the Associate Director under Wayne. Amanda now represents the Upstate interests of NYSASSRS/RSGDA from our Syracuse office. She is tasked with helping to introduce the Automotive Trade to the next generation of technicians. She does this with her background in Marketing and Communications, as she has managed her own marketing and consulting firm since 2013.
When she is not meeting with members or speaking on their behalf to local representatives, Amanda lives in Homer, NY, with her family and spends as much of her spare time as she can creating little travel adventures.

Meet Our Founder

We have been with you since 1980, and we are still with you today. Thanks to our founding Director, Ralph Bombardiere. He served members vigorously until his passing in 2020.
Born and reared in Brooklyn, Ralph Bombardiere graduated from New Utrecht High School and Brooklyn College. He moved to Staten Island in 1964. Becoming a small businessman, he had several gas stations in Brooklyn and Staten Island. Soon, he became a renowned leader in the automotive repair and retail gasoline industry. In 1980, he became executive director of the N.Y.S. Association of Service Stations and Repair Shops and made it the largest industry trade association in the nation.
Ralph was a pioneer in the development of emissions testing in New York and in Florida. He would often walk the halls of Congress and Albany, passionately fighting not for special favors for gas stations or repair shops and the growing number of affiliated convenience stores, but to give his members a shot at a level playing field so they could compete fairly.
